The Winnipeg Folk Festival is one of North America's best festivals, period.
Four four days it turns a swath of Birds Hill Provincial Park into a joyous temporary small town. Over 40,000 people attend, and over 4,000 camp in the main festival campground, which features late night musical and fire performances.
The festival presents a mix of intimate performances (on its seven day stages) and big-name acts on its two evening stages.
Run almost entirely by volunteers, the Folk Fest is a Manitoba institution, a wonderful community, and an extremely fun and moving musical event.
