I have been writing eagerly and often since I was a kid. I paid my way through university and into graduate school working as an editor. I've spent a lot of time working with words and ideas, and am always eager to take on new things.
Years of experience and training allow me to excel at writing and editing jobs large and small, and I pride myself on being deadline- and word-count driven, communicative, and reliable.
Writing
My writing experience is extensive, and covers most genres and lengths of non-fiction. I have written marketing and advertising text as short as Google ads, and I have written a book-length manuscript of humanities scholarship.
My business experience includes writing business proposals, proposal responses, and various kinds of reports and summaries.
I have written a large number of technical and training manuals, notes, and blog posts for a range of audiences including programmers and complete novices.
Editing
I spent five years working in the fast-paced and demanding world of scientific medical journal publishing, and have also vetted, edited, and published scholarly articles in the humanities.
I have performed all levels of editing from proofreading to substantive and structural editing, and take pleasure in correctness as well as flow and elegance of expression.
Research
My own scholarly background involves research and writing in English literature ranging from the Middle ages to the modern day. I have also demonstrated skill with many kinds of structured and general search tools, and have excellent summarizing and analysing skills.
