I shot a series of endorsement portraits for the Matt Henderson for Winnipeg South Center campaign.
We wanted to convey both his popular support and a variety of reasons to vote for him. Thus we included some text in the form of a statement on a chalk board to provide messaging about policies and issues as well as the more general showing of confidence in his candidacy.
This was a great chance to work with a variety of people and groups of people in similarly varied settings. I shot the majority of them against some manner of foliage, but not exclusively if a more specific environmental portrait seemed like a good idea.
The presence of the chalkboard and the overall framing of the shots provided aesthetic continuity, as did my usual lighting strategy of a single large key light with a kicker for rim lighting / background separation.
